Double J Animal Hospital is one of only two AAHA-accredited vet clinics here in Hobbs, and folks were recommending it to Br. Bryant’s Prairie Dals even before I made the move to New Mexico. They really push for the highest standard of care with every critter that walks through their doors, and with the Otto app you can reach them pretty much anytime, day or night. Plus, if Chewy ain’t working out for you, they got their own in-house pharmacy where you can pick up your parasite preventatives without the hassle.

The Texas Tech Vet School up in Amarillo is the closest vet school we got to Hobbs, and they serve as a clinical partner with Double J Animal Hospital. Their residents get sent out to vet clinics all across the region, bringing fresh knowledge and extra hands to help. Through those partnerships, they share resources that boost education and push animal health forward in all our communities out here on the Llano.

Outside of the city shelter, Amazing Grace is the only pet rescue here in Hobbs putting in the work to give animals a second chance. They step up with rescue services, vet care, and adoption efforts for those pups and kitties that just ain’t caught a break yet.

Back in 2009, country star Miranda Lambert and her mama, Bev, kicked off MuttNation, a nonprofit that runs on donations and a whole lot of heart. They’re all about helping shelter pets find homes, pushing spay and neuter for those who don't show, teaching folks why it matters, and stepping in when shelters get hit by natural disasters. Since then, they’ve raised over $11 million and lent a hand to more than a thousand shelters across the U.S. On top of that, their MuttNation Fueled by Miranda Lambert line at Tractor Supply lets pet lovers grab toys and supplies while every penny goes back to supporting the cause.

Dalmatians don’t need much grooming because they’re pretty much self-bathing dogs, and with their sensitive skin, most only ought to see a groomer every 3–4 months. Tailored Tails of Lubbock is the only AKC S.A.F.E. certified groomer within 250 miles, meaning they do it in a way that keeps your pup’s health first, makes the process smooth, and leaves them feeling good. They stick with all-natural shampoos but will let you bring your own if that’s what works best for your dog. More than anything, they run their shop with the kind of care and friendliness that makes you wanna come back every time.

The Rocking Paw Dog Training Center out by Ropesville, Texas is one-of-a-kind for all of West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Trainer Jolynne Payne teaches with positive reinforcement and LIMA methods (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), so pups learn with confidence instead of fear. From puppy kindergarten to CGC classes and even scent work, her skill makes the drive worth it for anyone wanting to train their Dalmatian—or any dog—the right way. We recommend Rocking Paw over anyone, and even the Governor of New Mexico herself noticed, saying how well Burniduque from Br. Bryant’s Prairie Dals was trained when she met him on her last stop through Hobbs.
